Great Keppel Island Bar & Resort operates Great Keppel Island Hideaway, providing accommodation and bar/bistro services, and the Keppel Konnections ferry service, providing transport between Rosslyn Bay and Great Keppel Island. Resort activities included building construction and maintenance, grounds maintenance, mobile plant and workshop operations, and the operation of a package sewage treatment plant.

I established and operated a successful sailing charter business at Great Keppel Island offering sailing/snorkelling adventures, sunset cruises and overnight charters. As vessel master I was responsible for safety of passengers, crew and the vessel as well as compliance with the relevant legislation, while ensuring my customers had a fantastic experience on and in the water.Following the sale of my business, I provided a three-month handover for the new owner covering sail training, vessel operation and maintenance, along with coaching and mentoring for the Coxswain’s Certificate of Competence and the overall business operation.

Building on my coal and environmental laboratory experience, I oversaw the operation of the ACIRL laboratory in Emerald. In 2002, I took the lead role in setting up and building the new CCI Australia coal and environmental laboratory business in Emerald. In both operations, I led a team of professional staff providing laboratory support to major mining companies in the Queensland coal mining industry.
