I work as an (O&M Tech IV) & (O&M Tech III) for DTE Energy Co. in the Woodland California power plant biomass facility. I’m versed in power plant safety policies and procedures related in the areas of high-energy systems, chemical handling, heavy equipment, rotating machinery, incipient fire suppression, and first aid. I am responsible during my shift for all personnel and equipment involved in the safe and efficient production of steam and electricity. I lead in the coordination, monitoring, and controlling all on-shift operations. As the lead operator on duty, I have the responsibility and authority to take whatever action necessary to protect people, environment and equipment. I assist the Operations Manager & Lead O&M Tech with administrative documents, generating reports, and initiates action to replenish consumables. I also assist the maintenance supervisor in submitting work requests, PM maintenance orders, housekeeping duties, and material service requests into Mainsaver or CMMS system. I have extensive experience with plant shutdown maintenance operations related to planning, loto, safe work permits, and confined space entry activities. I oversee all station operations, including startup, shutdown, inspection, routine chemical testing, all 13.8KV, 4160-volt, 480-volt motor switching and tagging, and equipment trouble-shooting. I have the ability and knowledge of the fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC and DC electrical theory, chemistry, water treatment process, thermal dynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow.

United States

I was responsible for the performance of the facility & the day-to-day operations. This included budgeting, staffing, training, safety, PSM, environmental compliance, truck and rail transport, and marine transportation compliance. I assisted and was involved in several large projects during my time with Yara, and delivered on time and without any incidents. My team continued to operate under budget every year. I was responsible for coordinating marine offloading operations of both liquid and dry material into the facility safely, on time, and on budget with vessel owners, the transmarine agency, the United States Coast Guard, and the COTP of San Francisco. This included coordination of 24hr marine traffic with the Port of Stockton and Sacramento. I coordinated, budgeted, and planned all contracts with stevedores that were associated with the marine offloading operations. More importantly, the facility went 15 years without an OSHA recordable injury or regulatory violation of any kind. Our terminal sight shipped material by truck & rail across the Western U.S. & operated a small production facility.

West Sacramento Nitrogen Operations

I started an entry-level position for Agrium U.S. Inc.(now Nutrien) in the West Sacramento Nitrogen Operations Facility. I progressed my way through operation levels C, B, A, and attained (PIC) person in charge of marine offloading operations at the facility. This would include anhydrous ammonia offloading into the facility as well as inbound urea ships & barges. I shortly followed with attaining shift back-up/supervisor in 2006. My job responsibilities were to manage my crew & produce nitric oxide and later use it to produce fertilizers based on ammonium nitrate. I later attained Shift Supervisor level in 2008 and directed 4 reports on rotating shifts through 2015 until we were sold to Yara North America. At which time I was selected by Yara North America as the facility supervisor/operations supervisor for the new terminal.
