October 2013 – present: Detective Superintendent, on secondment from the Metropolitan Police working directly to the National Cyber Crime Policing Lead, Deputy Chief Constable Peter Goodman. Current role is developing national strategy, creating minimum standards and building national policing capability to deliver a victim focused response to cyber dependent and cyber enabled crime impacting regional and local communities. In addition, acting as a conduit between national policing, Home Office and the National Cyber Crime Unit to ensure a truly local to national coordinated response to significant national cyber crime incidents.

2009 – 2013: February 2009 recruited by the National Policing lead to build from a ‘green field’, a pioneering national cyber crime capability. I achieved instant success with the arrest and convictions of a cyber crime cell secreted into the UK and activated to attack and steal large sums of money from compromised accounts of UK banking customers. This success, delivered realisable benefits from minimal financial investment and supported my operational business development plan. I achieved uplift in resource permitting me to implement a bespoke and co-located operating model incorporating enforcement, technical and cyber intelligence development functions. I have led, and coordinated international cyber investigations through to successful judicial outcomes. The operational success of my bespoke operating model led to the successful bid for income generation of £30 million from the UK government’s National Cyber Security Programme. I was commended by the national policing lead for achieving this significant financial investment. The PCeU success was such that the national e-Crime programme was consumed within the PCeU name due to the global brand I had built. International Law-enforcement partners visited the PCeU to view my developed operating model and identify best practice to enhance or create their own cyber capabilities. My operating model has also been adopted by the National Cyber Crime Unit. I grew the PCeU resource from an initial staff of 10 in 2009 to a total of 112 in 2013, which included three regional cyber hubs in the North West, Yorkshire & Humber and East Midlands.Under my leadership the PCeU achieved £1.01 billion financial harm reduction to the UK. This was double the financial harm reduction target in only 2 years of the 4-year e-Crime programme.A Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner described the PCeU as a ‘Jewell in the Metropolitan Police Crown’. 2012 I received a Commissioner’s certificate of commendation for leadership.

2000 – 2008: Served at ascending ranks of Detective Sergeant, Detective Inspector and T/Detective Chief Inspector, in arguably the UK's most prestigious crime fighting unit, the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad. Led and managed proactive /reactive investigations against serious and organised crime groups committing armed robbery offences against the business community in London and the Home Counties. Managed high risk, threat to life firearms operations under extreme and ever evolving pressurised circumstances. Achieved outstanding results whilst successfully managing the risk to public safety. Commended by trail judges and at Deputy and Assistant Commissioner level for leadership and detective ability investigating prolonged and complex cases of armed robbery.

Representing the Metropolitan Police and leading a team integral to a wider multi-agency taskforce combatting corrupt police officers involved in serious and organised crime.Awarded the Kent Constabulary Chief Constable's Certificate of Merit for professional ability and tenacity in the investigation of organised serious crime.

Seconded from the Metropolitan Police to the Regional Crime Squad. Part of a highly experienced, self motivated and dynamic proactive detective capability combatting the importation and distribution of controlled drugs, and the laundering of the financial proceeds of drug trafficking.Awarded Assistant Chief Constable's commendation for Leadership, professionalism and detective ability.

As a Police and later Detective Constable, I successfully investigated reported crime impacting local communities both from a proactive and reactive perspective. Offences including violence against the person both stranger and domestic, rape, indecent assault, illegal drug supply, robbery, burglary, theft and fraud. As part of pooled resource I also investigated homicides.This initial experience of policing London with the interaction and support of local communities was a fantastic induction into London life and provided me the foundation to develop my skill and experience in community engagement, problem solving, risk assessment, decision-making, crisis and conflict management, working as an individual and part of a team, gathering evidence and intelligence, developing leadership and management skills and most importantly communication skills. Commended at Chief Superintendent, and Deputy Assistant Commissioner level for professionalism and detective ability for a variety of criminal investigations.
