Throughout my professional employment life and private life, I worked with a principled mindset in serving my fellowman. I accomplished this as a Phoenix Police Detective with twenty-five years of service to the citizens of Phoenix, as a board member and representative with the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (police union), and as the President of the Arizona Black Law Enforcement Employees (ABLE). My service to ABLE and to our members has caused us to flourish as an organization and as individuals. I brought these leadership skills, professionalism and duty of service to the community and in working with my fellow law enforcement professionals.Through ABLE, I have worked with citizens, politicians, criminal justice leaders, law enforcement professionals, and educators, which gave me standing and veneration with these individuals. This influence was important in maintaining relationships and working together on common interests. My communication skills, experience, and willingness to connect with others were utilized for all of our benefit and it was reflected in a positive light, which resulted in a much deeper public trust with law enforcement as guardians of the communities we served. My family history is rich with singers and performers which made it natural for me to be a part of this experience to serve my fellowman. I have sung the national anthem at Bank One Ball Park, the Phoenix Suns Arena, in the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Coliseum, the Phoenix Country Club, at several Arizona police conferences and am a former member of the Phoenix Police Honor Chorus. I have provided ceremonial and memorial songs during funerals, police memorials and for Arizona Mother’s Against Drunk Driving. I have recently performed renditions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s, “I Have a Dream” speech with accompaniment songs to enhance and magnify his glorious speech.
