Director
CurrentAfter16 years in industry and 17 years in academia, I have set up Datchet Consulting (and I plan to do the same with the Cumberland Initiative) to support organisations in the borderlands around academic, industrial and healthcare strategy and practice. My industrial background in broadband technology, systems and services provides insights into the information needs of clinicians and managers in healthcare, and illuminates the many difficulties faced by suppliers and users of healthcare information systems. My academic research focuses on assessing the value of technology and services in healthcare. My sabbatical in 2017/18 explored the engineering design cycle as a framework for planning and implementing better services and it has resulted in in a way to capture a return on investment in designing services that reflects the health gains as well as the operational benefit of a better connected system.I retain my links with Brunel through Emeritus and Honorary Chairs, and plan to support course development in the sector based on blended learning and some of the new pedagogy, including assessment methods, that are increasingly critical to institutional success.
