CurrentAt the end of 2009 the State of Oregon adopted Section 510 of the International Fire Code. This code requires Public Safety Radios to have specified Signal Strength and Coverage within buildings and underground parking areas. Oregon’s AHJ’s (Fire Marshal’s & Fire Inspectors) have primary responsibility for determining which buildings within their jurisdiction, will be required to meet this code. The interpretation of this Fire Code and how it will be enforced, is determined by the AHJ’s which can vary.Terry has worked with multiple AHJ’s, Building Owners and Building Industry companies over the past two plus years, while providing DAS solutions to building owners. Terry has also joined the Oregon Fire Code Committee which meets monthly in Salem, as a industry provider representative.During this time, Terry has gathered together BKM’s (Best Known Methods) for simplifying the process of determining Signal Strength & Coverage issues within a building, and providing a proven process to provide the best solution to address those issues.Terry has also been active in educating Building Owners as well as companies involved in the construction of new buildings in Oregon and S/W Washington, on this new Fire Code and the requirements of it.
