CurrentA visionary entrepreneur, innovator, and researcher, experienced team leader with acknowledged expertise in advanced network and smart community development, solutions and project achievement.Provide leadership in the development, planning, and operation of advanced research and education network infrastructure and services, including community owned open access fibre network infrastructure, engaging others to discover relationships and opportunity through digital infrastructure, transformation, and services that lead to collaborations in the development of applications, programs, research, and industrial activities.Overseen a substantial number of public-sector and private projects like the Valley Community Fibre Network, including time as Executive Director of ACORN-NS, the Halifax Internet Exchange, Atlantic Canada Internet Exchanges, the National Research Council of Canada, Connecting People for Health Cooperative, Canadian Bioinformatics Resource, and community open access broadband builds such as the Municipality of Pictou County.Provincially and nationally, continue to provide leadership and expertise in information and communications technology, smart community and rural broadband developments, including Secretary and Director, Halifax Internet Exchange (HFXIX) and Atlantic Canada Internet Exchanges (AIXP); and Co-founder, Principal and President of i-VALLEY.Life Member of IEEE, 44-year Member of TechNova, recipient of two National Research Council of Canada Outstanding Achievement Awards for contributions to science, technology, and innovation in Canada, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient in recognition of national research network contributions to Canada, recipient of the IEEE 2013 Outstanding Industrial Contribution Award, and Principal to Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia receiving the Gold Certification by the World Council on City Data under ISO37120 as the world’s first “Smart and Sustainable Rural Region”.
