In developing training and providing training to dealers, builders and employees, I learned to listen and ask questions, insure that I understood what it is that they really needed and how I could be fill that need.

Not every problem can be solved with technology, not every process is broken, not every person is doing something wrong but there is always room to improve and knowing what the real problem is and how to actually fix it is the key. I had the opportunity to work as a cross department solutions architect. I worked on everything from simple process changes to complete system overhaul of two small hardware stores. I learned to select the right tool for the job.

When working in large fast paced companies there is little forgiveness for being late. In the spirit of team work I was pulled in months late to a project that was scoped incorrectly. They were just weeks away from having to deliver a new commission system but lacked any sales reporting. Coming together we delivered on time and on budget.

There is nothing more important to a company then sales. I was asked to step in on a team and fix all the inaccurate sales information flowing through the reporting systems. It required me to move quickly yet I had to maintain a high attention to the details.

When information is siloed, it provides very little value to a company. They need to consolidate application servers and software from an acquisition into the existing data center. I learned to create data flows and architect solutions with the future in mind.

After only two weeks on the phones, an emergency arose that they needed someone who could decommission Unix systems from a company just acquired. With no training and 10 year old systems I dove in, taught myself how to administrate the system, and migrated all the users person to person to the new corporate platforms.
