At Thru, our mission is to serve as trusted advisors to Pre-K-12 leaders and superintendents. We also currently report to two U.S. District Court judges in the independent monitoring of class action lawsuit agreements around special education. In serving Judge Loretta Preska in the Southern District of New York, I assessed the current administrative processes and workflows in the area of due process in New York City Public Schools, made recommendations endorsed by Her Honor, and we are now monitoring their fulfillment. During the pandemic, I supported the Superintendent of Ector County Independent School District in Texas to identify locations in the county where households were lacking access to high-speed internet and designed multiple plans to deploy it where it was needed. I wrote a book about the experience, "Breaking the Internet."At Thru, I serve as our head of research, recently exploring the topics of school safety, sustainability, and preschool special education. I also serve as our lead for marketing, (including blog).

As a Gartner consultant, I was lucky to work with transformational leaders in Pre-K-12 education and state and local government for 10+ years. I leveraged Gartner Research models and frameworks to help advise and solve problems for clients in the areas of data and analytics, enterprise applications, and education technology. I advised PreK-12 districts in the evaluation and selection of student information systems, learning management systems and interoperability frameworks. Some districts I partnered with include Pinellas County Schools, Austin Integrated School District, Cincinatti Public Schools, New York City Public Schools, Broward County Public Schools, and Kamehameha Schools in Hawaii. I also advised a number of NYC mayoral agencies on various technology initiatives, such as the NYC Office of Emergency Management, NYC Department of Homeless Services, NYC Department of Correction, FDNY, and NYC Board of Elections. I conducted requirements gathering, user research, business process analysis, and accessibility reviews of enterprise systems.

Working with U.S. agencies in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, I gained practical experience in the design, development, testing and training of enterprise applications, like ERPs, and agency websites. I supported systems design, product design, requirements gathering, Agile methodologies, microcopy writing, website design, and development of other user-facing communications like FAQs and training materials. I was fortunate to work with the CDC, DOJ, Food and Nutrition Service, and IRS.
