I like to describe myself as a Philomath - an individual with an insatiable appetite for learning.As a young student, I witnessed a remarkable surge in the stock market, increasing by over 600 percent. This event sparked my interest in identifying stocks with the potential for exponential growth. Driven by this fascination, I embarked on a journey to become a skilled investor, delving into books to grasp the intricacies of investing and the psychology of investors. As I delved deeper into the world of the stock market, my hunger for knowledge intensified, leading me to pursue a college degree specializing in finance and banking.Upon obtaining my undergraduate degree, I landed a job as a relationship manager licensed by FINRA, catering to wealth management clients. While successfully onboarding new clients and managing their assets, my curiosity about investment valuation pushed me further, inspiring me to enroll in business school.Post-graduation from business school, I shifted into a corporate development role, taking charge of investment activities and overseeing merger and acquisition execution for a Fortune 50 company. However, after a few years, I discovered a deficiency in my accounting knowledge while liaising with numerous CFOs of target companies. To bridge this gap, I decided to further my education at a renowned accounting business school and earn a master's degree in accounting.During this tenure, I became enamored with the prospect of collaborating with and evaluating startups. The process of understanding novel technologies, delving into intricate financial modeling, engaging in passionate dialogues with entrepreneurs keen on reshaping the world, and the chance to invest in the next game-changing company genuinely fascinated me.Following this passion, I relocated to Silicon Valley and joined Verizon Ventures as a principal. Here, I contributed to and led deals in health tech, sports, and media tech sectors, investing in innovative companies like Medivis, Fan Controlled Football League, Phenix Real-Time Solutions, and StatusPro.Today, I'm the Director of Corporate Development and Ventures at Zendesk, responsible for M&A strategy, execution, integration, and strategic investments. Through my work, I have found fulfillment. I am helping to stimulate economic growth and innovation and helping Zendesk maintain its product leadership via M&A and investment. And every day, I am learning something new.Though I am confident that my thirst for knowledge will never be quenched as a Philomath.
