Site lead and technology instructor for Courage University an information technology (IT) training facility in support of US Army I Corps and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Manages an operating budget of over $400,000, supervises two IT instructors, and the day to day operation of the facility. Evaluates developmental and operational test results and revises training plans and course material accordingly. Reviews, evaluates and certifies acceptance of contractor provided training materials and training. Attends and chairs training conferences, in-progress reviews, and other activities as required. Significant accomplishments:• Trained over 870 students in critical information technology skills.• Conducted more than 75 classes in radio operation, basic networking, network operations & management, Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA certifications. Field support engineer and instructor in support of PM WIN-T NETOPS (Program Manager Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Network Operations). Provides NETOPS software support and network troubleshooting support to customers in the form of over the shoulder training and formal classroom instruction. Provides on-site support of the following: NETOPS, basic computer networking, Information Assurance (IA), Cisco routers, switches, call managers, Cisco ASA, and Citrix WAN Scaler, NETOPS hardware and software tools that include; SNMPc, Solarwinds Engineer toolset, Orion Network Configuration Manager, Orion Netflow Traffic Analyzer, Orion Network Performance Monitor, NetMRI, Cisco ASDM. Frequently responds to short notice requirements to provide network troubleshooting, NETOPS training, and field support for US Army organizations.• Provided formal classroom training to over 200 personnel. Allowing customers to more efficiently deploy and manage more than 15 tactical network operations centers (NOC).• Responded to hundreds of calls and field support requests to troubleshoot customer networks. Served twenty years in the US Army, ten years as a Signal Warrant Officer in several organizations stationed around the world. Responsible for developing policy recommendations and providing technical guidance and advice to senior level Army commanders and staff for the planning, management, and operation of Army, Joint, intergovernmental, interagency, and multinational information networks and systems. Senior technical planner, engineer, trainer, and manager of a network operations team that maintained enterprise level communications networks during three operational deployments to Iraq, two United States homeland defense exercises named Ardent Sentry in 2007 & 2008 and numerous training exercises. Assignments:• Managed a tactical NOC that monitored a secure and non-secure voice, video, and data network of over 200 routers and switches capable of supporting over 3000 users. This support ensured users had access to critical battlefield information and directly contributed to the success of countless military missions.• Managed the installation and operation of a datacenter that provided secure and non-secure voice, video, and data services to over 5,000 customers. This data center eliminated a critical single point of failure and increased the available WAN bandwidth from 2Mbs to over 20Mbs, which dramatically increased the availability and reliability of network resources.
