Siemens USA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens AG, the Munich based electronics and electrical engineering powerhouse. Active in 190 countries with a workforce of 360,000 and revenues exceeding $100B, Siemens is an integrated technology company operating in four sectors of Healthcare, Energy, Industry and Infrastructure & Cities. Siemens products fall broadly into the categories of building solutions, drives, industrial automation, transportation and medical. As Vice President of Corporate Technology, I led the innovation activities for Siemens in the USA, a $23 billion business with over 60,000 employees. I was responsible for all research activities that delivered positive disruption to the core Siemens markets. I managed the company’s research engagement with top universities around the country and partnered with the U.S. government on critical research topics, while also leading the Siemens technology activities with startups in Silicon Valley. My team’s focus helped to secure the profitable future of the company by finding, funding and forging those disruptive technologies that solve the greatest challenges of the future.

As president of the mobility and logistics division with a portfolio that exceeds $700M, I developed growth strategies, balanced our offerings, inserted a new leadership team and integrated new company acquisitions. Led a team of 1,800 employees across 25 locations with full responsibility for the P&L of the business and the entire value chain to the market including sales, operations, product development and manufacturing. Direct report to the CEO.

Serving cities and municipalities to improve infrastructure, grew revenue by 20% in year one by integrating new acquisition, implementing growth strategies and expanding products and service businesses. Concurrent responsibility as Chairman of the Board for Republic ITS, a Siemens subsidiary. Accountable for full P&L of the business with revenue of $140M and oversaw 700 employees.

Led the business turn-around of an under-performing fire detection business with multi-year declining revenue and profits. Defined new strategies, and with over 1,400 reinvigorated employees across 100 locations in the U.S. and 22 countries in the Middle East, Asia pacific and South America, led the journey to sustainable performance. Increased revenue by 40% and EBIT 5x by improving service offerings, applying operational efficiency principals and expanding the product portfolio. Oversaw the business P&L of $350M.

In general management role, served commercial customers to make buildings more comfortable, safe and energy efficient through building automation, fire and security solutions. With over 400 employees, grew service business 21x and EBIT from zero to double digits by rapidly expanding the customer base, focusing on service quality and helping customers improve their buildings through energy savings. Responsible for P&L of $110M.
