I was tasked to help this corporation document their existing compensation system and propose recommendations for upgrading or replacing it. The system was a 20+ year old mainframe system written in Cobol. I was able to translate thousands of lines of Cobol code into plain English so the client could understand how their system worked. I translated the SQL from the Oracle database, as well. I also built a desktop model of how the system could be modified to accommodate the proposed changes.
