The Facility Chief Medical Officer leads clinical and quality initiatives that support the provision of consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the hospital; facilitates the analysis of quality performance and prioritization improvement opportunities; provides senior level leadership to the infection control, risk management, safety, and medical staff credentialing functions ensuring the collaboration and coordination of all stakeholders in these processes; and consults on an array of issues involving physicians.

Dr. Terry Loftus is an entrepreneur and author who founded Loftus Health in 2015 with the goal of educating and coaching healthcare leaders on how to successfully implement programs that improve the delivery of healthcare. With 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry as a provider and executive, Dr. Loftus is uniquely qualified to advise on a range of issues including value analysis, physician role in supply chain and program development.

This corporate level position has overall responsibility for providing leadership, direction, and clinical oversight, as well as the integration, coordination, and improvement of clinical care, clinical resources and patient safety at the system level. This position is an essential leadership role responsible for guiding the development and implementation of policies, practices, and clinical programs system wide. This position, along with its team members, is responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a service-oriented culture focused on provider engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience. In addition, this position serves as a member of the executive leadership team for Supply Chain Services, executive leadership for designated Clinical Consensus Groups and in an advisory position for the Population Health Management team, building and supporting effective collegial relationships with applicable internal and external constituents and stakeholders and ensuring optimal operating effectiveness and strategic positioning.Essential Functions• Works closely with the leadership of Supply Chain Services to ensure the provision of supplies and services to deliver high quality healthcare in the most cost-effective manner. Assists in the develop of contracting strategy and utilization improvement within Supply Chain Services. Provides physician leadership for the value analysis program and any value analysis projects necessary to secure supplies and services required for the effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services within the system.• Works with Banner Health Network, Care Management, Service Lines Teams, Discipline Teams and facility leadership (CEO/CNO/CMO/Chief of Medical Staff) to establish, monitor and improve aggregate clinical outcomes. Actively participates in or leads care management activities to improve patient safety, and provide patient-centered care.

This role primarily functioned as the liaison between the C-Suite and the Medical Staff. In addition, as CMO I provided oversight for the quality and patient safety programs for Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, AZ. In my time there this facility won the Thompson & Reuter (Truven) 2011 Everest Award and 100 Best Hospital Award in 2011 and 2012.

My responsibilities included the care and management of patients on the Trauma Service and Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. In addition, this role included the teaching of medical students and surgical residents in training.
