I am an experienced software engineer and computer scientist with a current professional focus on Machine Learning in the VFX industry, previously working on computer vision and audio ML for consumer electronics applications, including smart toys and smart phones. Through my work, I have developed expertise in PyTorch, Neural Networks, architecture and design of deep learning simulation engines, applied R&D for imaging, audio and computer graphics.I have a background in enterprise software engineering and application development using Microsoft technologies, with experience in Application Lifecycle Management, Continuous Integration, Build and Test Automation, C#, ASP .Net MVC, and web development. I have first-class honours Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Software Engineering and Computer Science, with a foundation in Java, algorithms, software architecture and design, networking, real-time systems, mathematics, artificial intelligence and complex system simulation.I have pursued additional learning in 3D modelling and animation, computer graphics and game development, and have lectured on these topics to second and third level students. In both my undergraduate and Master’s research, I applied and expanded these skills through the development of real-time simulation engines, including visualisation and interaction with the artificial intelligence and multi-agent complex systems being simulated. I have participated in creative writers’ and script writing groups, and write short stories. I am a hobbyist model- and replica prop-maker, and have taught myself to sculpt and paint, as well as gaining numerous fabrication skills, including wood-working, molding and casting, fibreglass and carbon fibre fabrication, and leather crafting.
