Terry is an experienced litigation attorney who practices in the areas of business litigation and real estate tax reduction. Terry’s trial experience was developed as a criminal prosecutor, where he successfully tried a wide range of cases. He served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Office of the McHenry County State’s Attorney in Illinois for more than twelve years, where he advanced to become Chief of the Criminal Division. He was appointed Director of the Child Advocacy Center of the Kane County State’s Attorney in Illinois where he was responsible for all child abuse prosecution. Terry also taught criminal law and constitutional procedure for eight years at McHenry County College. In the area of business litigation, Terry represents business clients in both state and federal courts and handles cases in arbitration and before various administrative agencies. Terry also contests real estate tax assessments on behalf of clients by filing complaints with the Assessor’s Office, the Board of Review, the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board and in the Circuit Court in the form of specific tax objections. The complaints are filed in Cook County and through the State of Illinois. The properties involved cover the entire spectrum of industrial, commercial and residential real estate, including downtown Chicago office buildings, shopping centers, condominums, apartment buildings and industrial facilities. He has saved some individual clients millions of dollars per year in taxes. He has also obtained property tax exemptions for schools, charities and qulaified professional associations.
