As an established project manager to various clients in the Internet and telecoms sectors, I have focused not only on product management/leadership and development, but also on an acute awareness of the infrastructure needed to facilitate winning projects and solutions in an ever changing IT landscape; especially when up against the challenges that characterise the education sector. With some 20+ years of direct engagement serving organizations in the corporate and educational worlds, I can claim a broad range of expertise relating, for example, to EPOS systems; hardware support; internet provision; telecoms systems; backup/storage systems, as well as the hardware/software and security/governance issues relating specifically to educational settings. I have managed a number of public- and private-sector projects to-date, examples of which include:• Implementation of a rigorously secure backup regimen for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service• Implementation of a fully-fledged telecommunications company delivering telephone (Voice over IP) service to business customers. This involved interconnectivity with BT and other vendor groups in the telecoms space.• Change management lead: organised teams to comply with impending migration tasks during major infrastructure change, including specification of future hardware and software training needs; business continuity during changeover periods, as well as risk/reward and benchmarking analysis of changing processes.• Project managed the rollout of a private hall of residence inter-connected, multi-site European network, and their ‘front-of-house’ IT reservations system. This role serviced the residential (rent, utilities billing) and internet service needs of some 10,000+ students across 12 diversely located sites. The work demanded input at the networking and software levels and was reliant upon my knowledge of WAN/LAN and routing technologies, as well as software application development via an Agile approach to software development. • Rollout of CRM software to a large multi-site leasing company. As this customer was in the financial services sector, security of both the physical network and the data itself was of paramount importance, requiring knowledge of corporate data security, encryption and network resilience via intelligent firewalling etc.
