Handled “Central Basin Platform” area. My primary focus was to oversee Energen’s interests in numerous Operated and Non-Operated Waterflood Units within West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. This included AFE’s to partners for P&A wells and recompletions, title updates at various depths, and title curative for successfully recompleted wells into non-unitized zones. I also worked closely with Energen’s Division Order staff in their Birmingham, Alabama office in resolving numerous royalty owner issues - and worked closely with Energen’s In-House Legal Counsel, Matt Hutchison, in resolving various title disputes. In addition, I coordinated the effort to purchase several small working interest owner/partners in multiple Energen-Operated Martin County wells. I assisted in several title curative issues in Martin and Glasscock County, and acted as a liaison between Energen’s Regulatory Department and their surveyors in coordinating their initial drilling - and their subsequent “As-Drilled” completion plats for their horizontal wells - and ultimate filings with the Texas RRC.

Subsequent to the closing of the January 2006 “Exchange Agreement” between TOTAL and Shell, I was responsible for overseeing numerous brokers on various oil and gas lease acquisitions and title curative issues, and worked with title attorneys on numerous curative or questionable title problems on the same south Texas assets. I also coordinated the effort to acquire several more surface fee properties for drill sites and buffer zones for new and existing well sites. I made several well, surface and pipeline proposals to McAllen, Pharr and San Juan city commissions, and spoke for Shell at numerous public relation functions. I also worked directly with Shell’s operations and construction groups to coordinate several pipeline or drill site construction projects, and resolved numerous pipeline and surface issues, and I assisted in several litigation cases and settlements. With a promotion in title to “Chief of Land Operations”, I transferred from McAllen to Shreveport in 2010. I was responsible for settling surface damages for the drilling pads, and negotiating numerous subsurface easement agreements on a timely basis for a 10 well drilling program, and coordinated the effort to acquire two key surface fee sites. I was also instrumental in resolving several complex curative title issues enabling Shell to release the majority of $6 million held in suspense which involved over 400 royalty owners.Subsequent to Shell’s acquisition of Chesapeake’s Delaware Basin assets north of Pecos in Fall, 2012, I was transferred to Midland. I was responsible for overseeing the clearance of numerous surface sites for Shells’ initial 10 well drilling program (with 40 brokers and a 5 man in-house staff) by negotiating and settling surface damages - and surface and subsurface easement agreements, along with pipeline, power line, and road right-of-way agreements, and assisted in the strategy/planning for saltwater disposal facilities and freshwater wells and infrastructure.
