Take Heart Florida is a chapter of Take Heart America which was founded by a network of visionaries who recognized that a coordinated, comprehensive approach to resuscitation therapies would substantially increase sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) survival rates beyond the benefits achieved with individual therapies alone. The initial results from St. Cloud MN and Anoka MN have been remarkably successful.Building community awareness is paramount to the Take Heart America strategy for saving lives. Teaching CPR and encouraging those who have been trained to act when necessary can significantly increase an SCA victim’s chance of survival. THA’s strategy to deploy automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in residential communities and public places along with improving the resuscitation techniques of professional rescuers will also increase the chances for the victim to survive and resume a productive life. THA strategies involve working with hospitals and pre-hospital agencies to develop clear procedures for ensuring optimal hospital treatment and post-resuscitation care for each SCA survivor.Take Heart America’s mission is to coordinate the delivery of several proven therapies that, when used in combination, have the capacity to improve the survival rate of victims who suffer out-of hospital sudden cardiac arrest. Take Heart Minnisota has shown to increase that survival rate from its five percent to more than 30 percent.

Responsible for coordinating all American Heart Association courses (BLS, ACLS and PALS) for entire system. This included coordinating location, equipment, A/V set and scheduling of instructors per AHA guidelines. Maintained and coordinated updates of the latest evidence based changes in resuscitation for over 180 instructors. Improved data collection with IT department with PEOPLE soft program. During 2006 rollout of new method of training changes in AHA, developed new programs to maintain volume able to attend courses as well as QA of AHA courses.
