General StuffI was born and raised in the Kansas City area and attended Rockhurst high school and college. My wife and I met in college; both of us come from large families; and we have three children of our own. We have six grandkids and keep busy spoiling them.Left Brain StuffI always knew that I wanted to work in a technical field when I was growing up. I choose electrical engineering as my career path, obtained a master’s degree from the University of Missouri and worked for several engineering companies in the KC area – large and small. I changed jobs often – pretty unusual back then – either getting bored or not wanting to be pigeon-holed into a specific area of technical expertise, wanting to own a well-rounded resume.Right Brain StuffI have a tremendous amount of respect for anyone who can play a musical instrument or speak a foreign language. With a liberal arts education, I consider myself an “abnormal geek” because, although I enjoyed the technical aspects of engineering early in my career, I now prefer the management and administrative challenges associated with the profession. I enjoy reading brainless mystery novels on the beach or poolside. Lately, I’ve been nurturing my artistic side by creating a gallery of oil paintings at home.Other StuffI’m blessed with family, friends and fun in my life. I enjoy a close-knit family, sets of close friends and the fun times associated with those dynamics. I enjoy golfing and bowling – not very good at either one but enjoy the challenge and camaraderie that they offer.Over the years I’ve volunteered or worked with various groups including Holy Cross Catholic Church, Overland Park Soccer Club, Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.
