They have several modified Financial packages and many bespoke applications. They have 12 branches country wide and 4 in Southern Africa.Year 2000 CompliancyI did the entire APPX Y2K compliancy project on the live system. Otis SA had a completely clean internal Y2K audit. This project took three months and 3500 dates were modified. This project was completed under budget.Speed II APPX ConversionI was project leader for this migration that took 12 months. I worked on all the complex applications and sorted out the problems arising from user testing. There were 10 people who worked full or part time on the project. Otis went live on the scheduled date and we had no major mishaps. The project was completed within time and budget.Technical and User TrainingI produced the technical training material and provided all the APPX training for Otis IS department. I set up the user training schedules and content for the manuals.WANI was project manager for the installation of a WAN nationally and a LAN in the Head Office and factory.System DevelopmentI was contracted to Otis on a monthly basis to develop new systems and maintain applications.

Working as a sole provider:The medical practice ran Speed II on a Wang VS. They bought a series of financial packages. I worked on a two-year development project to enhance the Financial packages to suit the companies needs.

Year 2000 CompliancyI project led the APPX Y2K compliancy project (March 1999). This was tested and certified in May 1999.Merge ProjectI project managed the merge of three companies financial data and history onto APPX during May 1999. As part of the merge, we will also move from an AIX to an NT platform. I will develop a technical and user training course for all the new staff members that join the company as part of the merge.Technical and User TrainingI setup a three-week user training program to provide all the staff (technical and users) with APPX functionality skills and system procedures. I am due to presented an APPX Introduction programming course for the IT Technical staff.

Worked as a sole provider:I project led the conversion from Speed II on the Wang to APPX running on a Novell platform. The systems are all bespoke and developed in-house with contract programmers.The scheduled go live date was the end of June 1999.This project was completed in time and within budget.After the conversion, the entire LTA Pension Fund ran on a PC based system

They had a development as well as a production platform for APPX.ProjectsI spend several weeks on site (November and December 1998) developing a Timber Allocation System according to the clients specifications. Project went live and the client was happy.

We came in well under the budgeted figure for the conversion. I provided maintenance and support on an on-going basis.

Their system is entirely bespoke written and was converted from Speed II.Speed II APPX ConversionI was the project leader for the migration project. I was based in Pietersburg for three months and was involved in all aspects of the conversion. The project went live on the scheduled date with not one programming problem experienced in the 'go live' week. This was a very successful project due to the teamwork and the high amount of user testing before the 'go live'. The project was completed within time and budget.Year 2000 CompliancyI completed the Y2K audit on the Financial Applications (February 1999) and wrote the procedure for the Y2K compliancy on the APPX systems. The necessary modifications were done in-house based on the working document that was produced as part of the audit.Technical TrainingI trained all the technical staff on APPX. I devised and presented a special course for a beginner programmer.

Formed ASYST SA in 1991 to provide Speed II support and development. Operated as a local VAR (Value Added Reseller) for ASYST International based in London. We are now a registered VAR with Caylx Europe.Initially we started with one client but currently we provide maintenance, licenses and development support to 12 Speed II and APPX clients.As majority owner and only local member of the company I am involved in all aspects of technical, financial, marketing and employee relations.I have an excellent relationship with Caylx in Holland and recently attended the Caylx VAR Conference held in Panama City, Panama and again in Amsterdam, Holland.In the previous three years I have contracted to ASYST International for short time periods to work on conversions, training and general development and support work in London, UK.I received all my APPX training in Holland from Caylx. The most recent course I attended was a one-on-one training course in January 1999 in Den Hague, Holland

For 5 years I worked as a free lance Speed II contractor in Europe.I worked in Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland and England for various companies.I was employed on short to medium term contracts to develop systems in Speed II and provide user and technical training.

I was employed as a Speed II support person to provide technical assistance to clients.I worked as part of a development team on various large clients. I was sent to Cape Town with another employee to start a new branch office.

I was employed at the Head Office in the IT department. I developed and modified financial programmes written in Speed II on the Wang machine.
