I am a Chartered Civil Engineer, with a MScEng masters in water, and an MBA in innovation management. I am passionate about the intersection of water, IoT, people, business, and innovation. I have seen first-hand the drive and passion of individuals in my industry to tackle the challenges of our time. However, there is a tendency to prioritize technology adoption over understanding of how people prefer to act in order to make an significant impact. I have been involved in innovation initiatives that were poorly defined, with no clear understanding of their impact on the business, nor a process to reduce uncertainty over time. I have initiated and ended innovation projects due to a lack of comprehension of how culture affects strategy. While I used to believe that technology and engineering could solve our problems, I now also focus on using people data to drive better innovation outcomes.I remain involved in smart water initiatives, particularly Advanced Metering Infrastructure, as I consider it to be the foundation for driving smart water, transforming around 70% of a utility's operational practices if implemented correctly. These projects have a significant impact on employees, customers, and the business, creating a fantastic basis for transformation.I am supporting the team at The Innovation Consulting Company (Previously TR Solutions), which employs a diverse range of methods and techniques to drive innovation success based on our global work experience.
