As a blood donor technician for the UMN Canine Blood Donor Program, I am responsible for both managerial and clinical tasks in the program. My clerical responsibilities include creating the employee schedule, managing the blood unit inventory and donor records, as well as contacting donors and scheduling donations. My clinical responsibilities include performing physical exams, analyzing pre-donation blood work, performing the blood draw, and processing and storing the units after the donation.

As an animal caretaker at Wright Way Rescue, Tess was responsible for providing food, water, medicine, clean bedding, and enrichment to the animals daily, all while following proper health and safety protocols. While working in the puppy intake and isolation halls, Tess became familiar with identifying the clinical signs of diseases, such as Parvovirus or upper respiratory infections. Further, Tess assisted the veterinarians in surgeries, physical examinations, as well as laboratory work.
