With over 18 years of experience in education, I have a passion for helping students learn to love math and believe that ALL people are math people. My mission is to help create classroom communities where math is learned through sense-making and problem-solving with a strong emphasis on student discourse and deep understanding. I aim to foster a kind, caring, and trusting environment where students and teachers can thrive as mathematical thinkers.I am National Board Certified as an Early Childhood Generalist and have an MEd in K-5 Special Education. I have 8 years of experience as an instructional coach, with the last 5 years specializing in elementary math education. I am a published author with my work focusing on how we create a welcome, inclusive, and challenging classroom community for all students.With an in-depth understanding of the K-5 Common Core State Standards for math, I am expanding my knowledge to the 6-8 standards. I design and facilitate professional learning experiences and professional development, develop and modify curriculum to fit standards, lead grade level PLCs, and coach teachers in problem-based pedagogy. I also have expertise in culturally responsive learning and trauma-informed classrooms.
