Managed community development and health projects for Somali population in Minneapolis: • Supervised community health workers, including developing and leading professional trainings and monitoring quality of seven health education programs. • Developed clinic-based community health worker programs including a well-child curriculum and an appropriate use of healthcare options curriculum.• Project managed community development at the Cedar Riverside housing complex, focusing on healthy living supports.• Led development through fund raising and development planning. • Created new income stream through contracting, increasing domestic revenue by 18%. • Managed several grants including partnerships with Minneapolis Public Health (SHIP), United Way, and UCare. Expanded Somali elder and youth development programs addressing specific needs of refugees including trauma, family structures, and healthy behaviors. Supported Somali youth arts program.

Oversaw all operations for community-based non-profit: • Supervised highly diverse staff of 35 part-time and seasonal employees and more than 225 volunteers. Developed, launched and led new programs to educate and inspire at-risk urban youth; created trainings and led staff. Designed and implemented organizational evaluation process. • Managed budget and created and fulfilled fundraising plan. Increased budget from $35,000 to $205,000 in two years. Won and implemented first contracts with the state.
