About Tess C. Kohanski

Co-Founder of Park-9 Dog Bar - the only dog bar in New England. In our first 3 months of business we were named to the Best of Boston 2023 List and featured as a Boston Celtics Small Business of the game. I specialize in business growth, development, design, licensing and permitting. My diverse professional and personal experience has allowed me to develop a unique perspective that helps me form lasting relationships and effective development strategies. My prior experience includes: leading economic development and marketing for the City of Everett and managing a multifamily buy and hold portfolio for a Boston based investment firm. I also was the Assistant Director of the Institute for Sustainable Energy at Boston University, where I was instrumental in building this brand new research institute from a two-person start-up to a 27-person, multi-million dollar think-tank in less than two years. I have a strong international background, including two years working in community development in rural Cameroon as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I have also worked toward increasing rural energy access in Haiti; advocated for climate justice with Oxfam America; and lived in China studying east Asia's international political economy. I have always enjoyed playing and learning new sports. I am a former member of the USA Women's National Rugby team with tours to Canada, Dubai and New Zealand. My athletic accomplishments include: two-time collegiate All-American, USA Under-19 Player-of-the-Year, 2014 World Cup USA Reserve Team member, and multiple captain honors. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations and I have a Masters in City Planning from Boston University's Metropolitan College. I am a licensed REALTOR, Green Designation in Massachusetts and a certified LEED Green Associate. Let's connect!
