I was responsible for helping patrons sign up for summer readings through our online Beanstack account, organize and restock summer reading prize books, analyze patron data on a weekly basis, communicate summer reading statistics with library staff, and assist summer reading events at the library. I also used Polaris to create new cataloging records, and I created a new category of picture books. In my extra time, I would develop hand-lettering skills and design signage for upcoming programming. I also gave a presentation about the importance of play and how to integrate play into the children's area of the library. My first presentation was to the library administration during my practicum, and I was invited back over the summer to present to a panel of parents and then a panel of library staff as part of a design thinking exercise. Later I gave the presentation to the library board and at the Oregon and Washington Library Associations' conference in 2019.

The children's area at the Hillsboro Public Library was going through a transition, and I was able to make design decisions. The majority of my time as a practicum student was spent researching different types of play, different modalities of early learning, and looking through occupational therapy and library furniture catalogs. I created a presentation about the importance of play, how the library can foster play, and a selection of wish list items that would make the library a more playful place for our youth. My research and presentation resulted in receiving $30,000 in order to bring my vision to life. The children's area redesign made access to developmentally appropriate play more accessible.

I developed campaigns for over 23 retail markets, created flyers for grant-funded programs, serviced internal marketing needs with flyers, email blasts, invitations, for both print and web.I created digital pieces for web: buttons, landing pages, social media, and banner ads. I was most excited to lead the concept and design of Goodwill of Central Texas's first ever "Choose Your Own Adventure" Annual Report (link below). While I was not responsible for the web coding, I worked closely with our web designer to troubleshoot my vision with the realities of our site.

As the AIGA Texas Show Director, I worked with a team to develop our logo, website, awards, and a commemorative book highlighting the best designs in Texas. I worked remotely with judges across several states to determine the winners. And I took the show on the road! We kicked off the show in Austin, then these pieces traveled to San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and finally New York City.
