In charge of sourcing start-ups and innovative products and technologies that could fit the EDFgroup industrial actual and future needs (<24 months).Once a new innovative product or a set of products is indentified, my team was in charge ofassessing the product(s). If the assessment is positive, the team next step is to help the businessunit(s) to implement it successfully. In the last 3 years I have been looking at various technologiessuch as Smart Grid, Renewable (solar including CSP and CPV, wind, marine energy), EnergyEfficiency (EE), energy storage (grid level and transportation), LED including urban lighting, cleancoal, including power plant optimization and CCS, Electric Vehicle and its specific infrastructure,etc.In order to speed up the identification process EDF has invested in the largest cleantech ChineseVenture Capital fund (300M$+), namely Tsing Capital. I am the EDF representative in the fund. As astrategic corporate LP representative, I have a monthly review meeting with the fund partners.Last but not least, I was in charge of assessing the Chinese new markets, and looking for newbusiness opportunities in China. For this reason, I was closely looking and reporting not only aboutthe Chinese energy start-ups but also at the Korean and Japanese ones (especially in the context ofthe post Fukushima perspective that leads Japan towards EE).

ELFENN was a start-up company I co-founded with some others. This company was intended tocreate very exiting web based interfaces for large companies. We have been working for Total,Canon, SNCF, etc. We also developed a very (too?) innovative interface for helping musiccompanies such as Sony Music, EMI to sell "back catalog" titles. It was kind of an early form ofShazam...1996 –2000USA – French Embassy in the USA – Attaché for Science and TechnologyWithin the Science and Technology Mission of the French Embassy in the USA (Washington DC), Iwas a Science and Technology Attaché in charge of IT, from electronics to telecom to software. Atthis time, France Telecom was a State owned company and was struggling with deregulation andnew technologies, e.g. the web, cell phones... My job was to study the US deregulation process, i.e.AT&T dismantling, rising of new telecom stars (the baby Bells), and to assess/anticipate thepossible impact of such a process on the French industry and more specifically France Telecom.I also have been involved in the design of the so-called "Innovation law" providing lot of examplesfrom the USA, e.g. the university patent offices, the role of the post doc researcher in the USresearch landscape...
