About Teunis Heyn
Structural Geology / Tectonics advisor with appraisal, development, exploration and technology experience seeking opportunities which will allow me to participate in appraisal, development, nearfield / frontier exploration or hydrothermal energy efforts. I have a passion for salt tectonics and understanding the transition from rifting to oceanic drift. In particular, I am interested how magmas interact with hydrothermal systems in magmatic segments of mature rifts which experienced a large degree of subsidence.Typical work products: (1) written technical assurance recommendations on work requirements/quality at the basin and prospect scale, (2) regional exploration/basin analysis, (3) play fairway analysis mapping, (4) prospect generation, geological risk assessment, and prospect ranking, (5) integration of plate reconstructions with crustal structure mapping of continental margins, (6) analysis of complex traps of prospects, (7) integration of potential field data with structure maps, (8) salt tectonics interpretations of prospects and basin, and (9) seismic interpretation of structural and stratigraphic traps, complex fault patterns and stratigraphy. Participated in international and domestic US Oil and gas exploration / development along active and passive margins in US Gulf of Mexico, US C. Atlantic, Alaska, Anadarko basin, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Trinidad, Barbados, Colombia, Mexico, Nova Scotia, Labrador, Newfoundland, Angola, Guinea, North Sea, N. Caspian, etc. Represented BP at Universities for sponsored research such as the Applied Geodynamics Laboratory (AGL) consortium at the University of Texas, and helped to steer such research. I served on the advisory board for BP's Dynamic Topography work at Cambridge University, participated as a leader in the Structural Geology Community of Practice setting goals, and was a Structure Newsletter contributor. I improved organizational capability by teaching courses such as Salt Tectonics and a Passive Margins course about magma-rich and magma poor break-up.
Listed skills include Leadership, Appraisal Geologist, Trap Risk Assessment, Petrel, and 33 others.
