As Team Manager sexual health I am leading a team of 25 professionals, including doctors, nurses, policy advisors and project leaders. With this team I am running one of the bigger sexual health centers in the country, which provides services to 15 municipalities. We conduct individual consultations about sexually transmitted diseases and sexuality, provide sexual health education, promote conscious decision making about pregnancy among vulnerable people and work on prevention and ending of sexual violence, involuntary sexwork and female genital mutilation.

Lusaka, Zambia

As Development Advisor for HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Gender I work together with different local partners to improve adolescent SRHR in Zambia. This involves advising training institutions (including the University of Zambia) on the application of new methodologies in their training programs, supporting the development and implementation of physical and online learning on HIV Response Coordination and Management for local government staff and contributing to the improvement of youth-friendliness of health care services. I also provide input to GIZ programme management processes, including operational planning, results-based monitoring, knowledge management, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Damascus, Syria

In this position I am responsible for providing strategic direction and technical advice regarding the development and implementation of the health portfolio in Syria, overseeing the overall implementation of health projects in Syria and ensuring quality of assessments, monitoring and evaluation of projects in Syria and Lebanon and encouraging a culture of learning and sharing of lessons learned. To this effect, I supervise M&E Officers in Lebanon and Syria and work closely together with Dorcas' implementing teams as well as local partner organizations.

Yangon, Myanmar

In this position I was responsible for developing a program strategy feasible for the challenging and competetive context in Myanmar, institutional fundraising and ensuring program quality during implementation. I led a team of international and national specialists and worked closely together with HQ specialists in the areas of WASH, Peace building and social cohesion, Livelihoods and food security. Behavior change was an important topic across all sectors. I enjoyed coaching and closely working together with my national colleagues, learn about the particularities of their country and strategize how to contribute to better living conditions in the most conflict affected regions.

Wau

As Program Manager I was responsible for overseeing project implementation and reporting, institutional fundraising, capacity building of local staff and general assistance to management of the field office. I worked closely together with the national managers to develop new project propositions and address daily challenges. I focused on the sectors of Health, Nutrition, WASH, Food security and livelihoods, and Protection and integrated attention for behaviour and mindset change in all projects. The field visits were particularly enjoyable and helpful to deepen my understanding of the country. Despite the escalating conflict, we managed to triple the portfolio and attract funding from donors such as the EU, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Unicef and WFP.

Coordinate Health and WASH projects in Eastern Europe and Africa, policy development, capacity building and institutional fundraising from the HQ in The Netherlands. I enjoyed to identify new developments and opportunities, connect people and work together with colleagues from different departments in the Netherlands and in the field. Frequent travels to the field contributed to better understanding of the realities on the ground and more relevant support from the Netherlands. I managed to attract more organizational attention for the importance of behaviour change and inclusion of people with disabilities in our projects.

Coordination of project and programme evaluations and providing input to all stages of the evaluation: from methodology design to report writing. This job included a large scale evaluation of a health program in 11 countries in Eastern Europe and Africa and conducting project evaluations in various sectors and countries. Also project evaluations on WASH, Food security and livelihoods were conducted as per donor, HQ and country office needs. I enjoyed to work together with local colleagues and different stakeholders to identify lessons learned and useful recommendations and to be exposed to a variety of projects and countries.

Writing articles for Resource, the weekly magazine for students and employees of Wageningen University and Research Center in the Netherlands. I like storytelling through words and pictures and to contribute to further awareness and knowledge among readers/viewers.

Systematic literature review on the determinants of adherence to antiretroviral treatment in Africa for the Communication Science Chair Group of Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Based on the findings developing, pre-testing and quantitative analyses of three structured questionnaires as part of a longitudinal study about determinants of treatment adherence. The study included a comparative analyses of different tools to measure adherence. Quantitative analyses was done with SPSS. Research into communication in HIV/AIDS prevention in South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe and provide recommendations for improvement. Activities included interviews, observations, group discussions, questionnaire development and analyses, facilitation of training about HIV/AIDS prevention. I enjoyed very much to work together with motivated and inspirational people from different CSOs and explore options for further effectiveness gains.

Teaching private Dutch classes to immigrants (2013-2014). Teaching about worldwide injustice for ‘Cross Your Borders’, a 3-day project for students in secondary school. (2009-2010)Teaching private classes in mathematics and economics to students who were enrolled in high school. (2007-2008).

A couple of weeks construction work and working with children in Ecuador, assisting with daily activities of elderly and handicapped children in Romania and caring and Household tasks in a home for physically and mentally disabled children in India.
