About Alper Tezcan

Having entered one of the best STEM high schools in Turkey with a distinctive grade, I got involved in physics olympiads and research projects. Currently, I am double majoring in Physics and Mathematics at Ecole Polytechnique; and I work as a data analyst at the IFT and instructor at Cambridge Math Circle. My research interests are astrophysics (specifically the Epoch of Reionization), laser physics, and quantum computing.

    Research on the improvement of the Low-Energy Analysis Framework (LEAF) algorithm for O(10 MeV)-scale events in Hyper-Kamiokande. Implemented direction reconstruction in the likelihood and prepared the vertex-direction sequential fit. Generated Monte-Carlo samples with ROOT-based Water Cherenkov Simulation and did performance studies on the reconstruction using HK-MC. Supervisor: Prof. Thomas Mueller.

We integrated this ML model into business with the app "enegy.Saver()" which helps users make their buildings more energy efficient. Awarded the Scientific Approach Award by Capgemini for physical model developed as feature engineering of our dataset. Attended five-week-long pre-hackathon training and learned about data science and its applications through the sessions by industry leaders such as Capgemini, L'Oreal, Schneider Electric, Total Energies.
