Following international relations degree I entered teaching through training under Christine Counsell at Cambridge University. I became Head of Department at Richard Hale School in my second year of teaching and remained at the school until 2016. The opportunity to advance to a new challenge led me to my current position as faculty leader at Greensward Academy. I have since been part of the History Subject Expert Team at AET. In addition I have presented at Teach Meet Icons Events, been featured on the One Big History Department website from the Historical Association. Curriculum is very much my passion and I was proud to write for an edition of Practical Histories on how I put historiography at the heart of my curriculum. After 14 years of teaching, I made the jump to Senior Leadership working to improve teaching and learning in a school in special measures. Proud to have achieved that whilst also contributing a chapter to What is History Teaching Now? Keen to experience life working with schools rather than in them, I joined We Are in Beta where I work to help to bring school leaders together to find solutions to challenges faced.
