My name is Tom Franz, and I am a Long Island/NYC based Photographer. Actually, I wear many more hats than just Photographer, so let's try that again. Photographer, Videographer, Helicopter Photographer, Editor, Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot, Documentary Filmmaker and In-Water Photographer.My passion for photography started as just a hobby when I was very young. Over the years, I was lucky enough to see this hobby flourish into my career. I currently hold the role of Staff Videographer at News 12 Long Island. Since starting with News 12, I have shot and edited countless news stories that impact our communities and people. I am very fortunate to have won many awards for this work, but most notably, I am a 3 time Emmy nominee. I am proud to be a photojournalist, I pride myself on keeping my work creative and focused on story telling.Surf and Wave Photography are truly one of my favorites. Growing up as a surfer on Long Island, sometimes I feel like I've spent more time in the water than on land. In this time, I have seen the ocean do beautiful things. Looking at life through a different lens is something I believe in to my core! This has helped me achieve so much already and I am not stopping now!
