I earned my Ph.D. from Saitama University in Japan in 2000, studying under the esteemed Professor Takashi Asaeda in a distinguished laboratory. My doctoral research was centered on aquatic ecological engineering, reflecting my deep commitment to enhancing our understanding and management of aquatic ecosystems.Throughout my career, I have maintained a strong focus on ecohydrology, examining how changes in hydrology affect the stability of ecosystems. This passion has been the driving force behind my research, guiding my contributions to the field. My efforts were recognized when I was awarded the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship from 2005 to 2007. This prestigious fellowship provided crucial support for my research, allowing me to make significant advancements and further my impact in the field.Following this, I took on the role of Director of Internal Quality Assurance at the University of Ruhuna, where I have been deeply committed to upholding academic excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Building on this experience, I was appointed as the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the University Grants Commission in 2021, where I am focused on enhancing and maintaining the quality and standards of higher education across the country.I attribute much of my success to the strong foundation provided by St. Aloysius' College, Galle, where I studied from 1972 to 1985. This esteemed institution offered a nurturing environment and instilled in me the values and determination that have profoundly shaped my life and career.
