Tim is a product and design strategist with the capability to shepherd products from initial conception to working software. After spending over a decade designing processes, buildings, workflows, and software products he knows what it takes to build— and it’s not this week’s trendy design pattern. It’s how well you connect with the needs, fears, hopes, and habits of heart-beating people, and create something from the ground-up matches that the human can partner with to accomplish great things. Tim’s curiosity about the world and the inner workings of things around him is matched by his pragmatic drive to incrementally improve the world a little each day.Tim has designed processes across industries that stand the test of time, including in hospitality, construction, and information technology. Notably, he streamlined design, shop production, and field installation of steel stairs and rails improving the profitability of projects by one-fifth company-wide over the course of two years. He was responsible for the creation and implementation of the design system for JupyterLab, where he designed and facilitated user tests both qualitative and quantitative over the course of three years. In addition to design and research experience, he also spent seven years face-to-face with customers in the hospitality industry learning what service really is.Tim holds a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Master of Human-Computer Interaction and Design both from University of California, Irvine.
