Before anything else in life, I'm a dad to two awesome dudes. Everything that follows is a bonus. Here's an insight about moi and how I approach, and think creatively, about what's in front of me:Starting life right at the back end of the 70’s*, I was fortunate to spend my adolescent years in 90’s Manchester and for those that have yet to share a proper pint with me, you should know about my passion for music. That decade will always provide the soundtrack to my life but not the obvious listens you may be thinking.Whilst my Manc mates obsessed over Oasis, I was capitulated by the lyrical genius of Damon Albarn (Blur). In fact, I had the tendency to look in the other direction as some of my favourite albums include Reading Writing And Arithmetic (The Sundays), Dummy (Portishead) and Psyence Fiction (UNKLE).One of my earliest musical memories was the track “Ice Ice Baby” (Vanilla Ice) which hit the No. 1 spot in the US in 1990 and was heavy on rotation at my local youth club. With a mishmash of lyrics and a borrowed beat, it wasn’t going to win many awards. However, there is one line that I have frequently related to throughout my career in the property industry, perhaps now more than ever. The part that has often been graffitied to an American road sign: “All right Stop. Collaborate. And Listen…”🛑🅢🅣🅞🅟 – When a person is inexorable, they are stubborn. When a process is inexorable, it can't be stopped. This is a word for people and things that will not change direction. I have seen this industry shift and evolve so much, driven more recently by the 'Prop Tech Era' and accelerated by the Pandemic. How often do you pause and take stock of the journey ahead?🤝🏼🅒🅞🅛🅛🅐🅑🅞🅡🅐🅣🅔 – Collaboration is all about teamwork. Not just with your own employees but the partners you choose to do business with. Some will hold you back because they are inexorable. Others will assist to light up the path ahead and help to create a first-class experience for everyone involved. As we know they are massively tech savvy, liberal and open to new ways of doing things.
