He was a talk show host for the TCT Network, a national Christian Television Network, with an affiliate in Iowa. He hosted the show called the Public Report. It's a show, highlighting leaders influencing the gates of culture. He is still the boots on the ground for TCT in Des Moines. Rev. Alfonso is a leader in the Latino community, having served on the Governor’s Commission of Latino Affairs, in addition to the Governor’s Focus Committee on Criminal Justice Reform. Al is a chaplain in 2 agencies, DMPD & ILEA. Al’s love and passion for community has yielded these merits. * 2011 Who's Who Among Business Professionals and Leaders. * 2014 Iowa Character Award by Governor Robert Ray's organization Character Counts. * 2016 recipient of the Des Moines Education Association Volunteer of the Year award. * 2016 he also received the Polk County Community Champion Award. Al is a chaplain for the Des Moines P.D. and a 2015 recipient of the Community Ambassador Program Volunteer Service Recognition Award and a 2017 Optimist Award Recipient with Des Moines Police Department . Al's latest recognitions was being honored by the Des Moines Register as one of 15 TO WATCH FOR in 2020, as well as receiving the Leadership Impact Award for 2020 by the Family Leader; A National Political & Religious Organization in our Country. Ending his 2020 year: he again is being honored by Marquis Who's Who for 2021 for his line of work. In 2022, Al along with his colleagues will receive the Iowa Hall of Fame Volunteer of the Year Award for the VAXDSM campaign alongside United Way’s Opportunity Initiative. Currently, Mr. Perez is being inducted into the Latino Hall of Fame by the Office of Latino Affairs.

CurrentCommunity Foundation For Inspired Giving has partnered with the City of Des Moines, Churches, Law enforcement, Governmental Agencies, Non Profits & Des Moines Public Schools in providing human capital, strategic sustainable systems with resources to families in the Urban Core of Des Moines. We started our launch with an event called the Convoy of Hope in November of 2010. It was a massive city wide event that took place at Wells Fargo Arena. We serviced 5,000+ families on a day to serve the city of Des Moines. There were groceries, haircuts, family portraits, shoe give aways, social service providers, entertainment for families, children and family resources, plus over 75 Organizations in the city on hand to help families in crisis. This work has allowed us to assist our school system as well as other community silos needing basic needs. We have worked with Wyman Housing in furnishing homes & also outreach to our homeless population.Most recently, we have partnered with the Food Bank of Iowa to be surrogate Food Pantry sites with churches in response to the Covid-19 crisis. We raised over $60,000 in 3 months and distributed a total of 631,274lbs of food to 73,071 families across the metro. Our Project Zume provided 757,528 meals across the metro. In 2021, HELPDSM will be teaching state law enforcement on Cultural Proficiency & Community Engagement. Our Education task force provides tutoring and childcare to several communities around Des Moines. Overall we are a Community Development Organization that partners with other organizations to yield greater outcomes. Help DSM is also a policy & consulting group to Community Organizations
Television Host
I produced and hosted a television show on KDMI Des Moines/Ames called the Public Report. It was a local show that aired on Channel 19 - Antenna T.V. and Channel 3 - Mediacom locally. The show featured Legislators, city and state government, law enforcement, clergy, CEO's, activists, singers, non-profit leaders who made a difference in their community. The program highlighted leaders making a difference in Iowa. I interviewed over 200 folks during it's 2 year run. The PublicReport Program reached over 500,000 home viewing audience between Des Moines and Ames, Iowa.

I work as a Community Site Coordinator, whose role consists of bringing community resource and supports to families in crisis. Those needs can range from food insecurity, housing, employment, social services or academic enrichment.Community School Coordinators Des Moines Public Schools is a partner in the Coalition for Community Schools. DMPSCommunity Schools exist to build meaningful partnerships between families, schools, and the community leading to improved student learning, thriving families and vibrant Des Moines neighborhoods. I was connected to this role by currentIowa Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg. I toured 3 schools in the Des Moines Urban Core with high need. I was also awarded the 15 People to Watch For in 2020, by the Des Moines Register for my work at King Elementary.

Community Development on Human Trafficking Rescue and Recovery.* ResponsibilitiesMy role included the formation of non profit partnerships with the mission & message of human trafficking. My responsibilities included reaching out to financial potential partners as well as doing presentations on the plight of human trafficking as it pertains to Iowa. I participating in fundraising campaigns, consulting, and helping to build foundations for this non profit to ultimately see it self sustainable. I worked in a more consulting role and networker to proper community stakeholders around the Garden Gate Ranch mandate.
