Profile bio

About Tyler Goepfert

I'm essentially an engineer with experience in biology and chemistry. My knowledge and interests cross many disciplines and consequently position me well to work in non-traditional positions where technology is advancing rapidly and work becomes very adaptive. My recent experience had been focused on isotope geochemistry (esp. U & Sr) and laser ablation techniques. Following my MSc in renewable energy (http://www.ppre.uni-oldenburg.de/) I started working in the Joint-Program in Chemical Oceanography (http://mit.whoi.edu/) (Fall 2010), and was granted another MSc in 2013. Subsequently I moved to Germany (2013) and took up work at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel. Starting in 2019 I began working for Arizona State University (ASU) in the School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) where I continue capitalizing on my diverse interests and skills while working together with a variety of researchers and students on projects ranging across geochemistry, biomedicine and forensics.Specialties: Bio & chem instrumentation & method development with ICP-MS, LCMS, HPLC, chemiluminesence FIA systems, novel compact solid-phase extraction techniques, & software development for system automation. Molecular biology skills (qPCR, primer design, cloning, sequence analysis). Advanced experience with LA-MC-ICPMS, and both laser ablation and solution based sample preparation and introduction for MC-ICP-MS. Cell culturing. Extensive field work (>350 days at sea); prep for many cruises around globe - Asia, Central America, N. & S. America. Presenting research primarily at conference meetings in Europe and North America.

Listed skills include Laboratory, Chemistry, Renewable Energy, Hplc, and 15 others.
