Senior Research ScientistXsensor Technology Corporation Jun 2007 - PresentCalgary, CanadaMy primary roll is to conduct research and development of flexible pressure imaging systems used in medical, industrial, automotive, and retail applications. I am responsible for investigating and implementing new high performance dielectric materials for pressure sensing, developing test processes, defining system performance specifications, quality control monitoring, calibration processes development, and providing documentation and training to production calibration operators. I am also involved in algorithm development which is used in XSENSOR's various software packages.I also provide top-tier technical support for customers and our global network of distributors who require technical advice, guidance, or advanced trouble shooting for their specific applications. -

Volunteer And Science EvangelistLet'S Talk Science Sep 1997 - Mar 2012Ottawa, Canada And Calgary, CanadaI was an active volunteer with Let's Talk Science, a science outreach program for children in grade and high school. I did in-class science demonstrations for students in Grades 4 through 12 on topics ranging from cryogenics to electricity and magnetism to Newtonian mechanics. I also volunteer as a science fair judge for the Calgary Youth Science Fair. -
Postdoctoral FellowChemistry Department, University Of British Columbia Jan 2005 - Jan 2006Vancouver, CanadaMy research focused primarily on characterizing the optical and electrical characteristics of a class of photochromic organic self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Due to the photochromic nature of the SAM, the dielectric constant could be altered significantly and reversibly by exposing to visible light. Ultimately, these SAMs would be used as the dielectric layer in a field effect transistor. Micro- and nano-fabrication techniques were used to fabricate the devices as well as depositing SAMs on monolayer thick gold films. These SAMs were characterized by surface plasmon resonance and atomic force microscopy. -
Research Assistant (Ph.D. Candidate)Institute For Microstructural Sciences Sep 1997 - Dec 2004Ottawa, CanadaDuring my tenure in this position, I was involved in all aspects of organic semiconductor growth, processing, device fabrication, and characterization. I also fabricated the first functioning flexible OLED in Canada. Some of the projects that I was involved with include:Developing new lanthanum and lanthanum-yttrium alloy cathode electrodes for OLEDs,Developing a room temperature RF Magetron sputtering process for depositing ITO on organic semiconductors,Creating an organic field effect transistor structure with a pentacene semiconductor which exhibited hole mobilities,Collaborating with researchers at several universities in Canada and Hong Kong to test and evaluate new materials for use in OLEDs and OFETs.Purifying organic semiconductors with a vapour train sublimation system.Molecular modeling of the HOMO-LUMO structure in a novel OPV to aid in the understanding of the structure-property relationships.Creating self-assembled monolayers of 1C to 18C functionalized siloxane molecules.Powder XRD on thin films of organic semiconductorsCreating data acquisition software for a current-luminance-voltage spectrometer and a user interface for a spectrophotometer. -
InternNortel Networks Sep 1996 - Sep 1997Ottawa, CanadaAnalysis algorithm development, optimization and validation, conducting routine photoreflectance characterization of various multilayer III-V wafers and provided feedback to MOCVD operators, software development.
