As the General Manager Merchandise for Dick Smith, I am part of the Senior Management Team across Australia and New Zealand and update the CEO weekly on Merchandise initiatives and performance. My role involves leading all aspects of the Merchandise strategy and its implementation through available marketing avenues. During this time the business has undertaken significant structural and process review to improve profitability. The success of this resulted in the business moving from ownership by Private Equity to being listed on the ASX in December 2013.

As the General Manager Merchandise Strategy at Dick Smith my role was to lead the turnaround strategy for Merchandise. I reported fortnightly to the board and weekly to our CEO on progress. During this time international Sourcing reported through to me including QA, product development and all sourcing managers.

Sydney, Australia

As the Merchandise Manager at Dick Smith, I managed a buying team of 11 people including 3 Buyers, 3 Assistant Buyers and 5 Merchandise Assistants. During this time I worked on the Entertainment Group and the Mobility Group. During this time international Sourcing reported through to me including QA, product development and all sourcing managers.

As the Business Manager for the Computer Group at Dick Smith, I managed a team of 3 people including 2 Assistant Buyers and 1 Merchandise Assistant. This portfolio represented over 25% of the company’s sales and profit across Australia and New Zealand.
