Identified five novel genes (ARID5A, SORBS1, CUX1, DYSF, TRERF1) that were significantly hypermethylated in metastatic breast cancer patients during AP Research in junior year. The significance of this finding is that the identified genes can be used as potential biomarkers or therapeutic targets for metastatic breast cancer.Utilized advanced genomic profiling technology, Illumina Human Methylation 450k, to analyze DNA methylation patterns. Developed data analysis pipelines using Python (Pandas, SciKit-learn) and SQL for large-scale genomic data retrieval and interpretation.Implemented Support Vector Machine (SVM) machine learning model to classify patients as either having metastatic or non-metastatic tumors based on their DNA methylation datasets.
