Mr. Thabani MP Maphumulo is a finance official in the public service and a seasoned worker representative. Maphumulo is a State Accountant for the Department of Correctional Services at Qalakabusha Correctional Center, Empangeni Management Area since February 2023. Prior to this position, he was with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as a Finance Production Clerk within the Budget Planning section of Management Accounting Directorate. He started his career in the same Department as in-service trainee and was subsequently appointed in the Revenue section as Finance Production Clerk from 2011 until 2020. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from MANCOSA and a Diploma inFinancial Management from Majuba FET. Over the years, he has represented workers as part of organized labour in various capacities. He represented Union as a Bargaining Coordinator; Deputy Branch Secretary and departed the Department of Agriculture when he was a Cedara Branch Chairperson at the Department’s Head Office. He is an active sports enthusiast and has coached and played several codes, including basketball, Volleyball and football. As part of his community engagement activities, he serves as a Team Manager for a local Football team that plays in the South African Football Association lower divisions
