Overseeing mining activities in the following provinces: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape regions (covering both onshore and offshore operations, which include natural gasexploration, marine mining, and normal onshore mining) and providing necessary strategic support ensure alignment with national strategic approach.Oversee enforcement of Mine Health and Safety Act in the regional officesMember of the following Committees at the Department of Mineral Resources: Executive Committee (EXCO), Bid Adjudicating Committee (BAC) and Risk Management Steering CommitteeEngaging mining industry leaders (Senior Executive level) and stakeholders (organized labour, employers’ organizations, professional organizations and communities) and relevant GovernmentDepartments on matters relating to mining, mining industry similar institutions internationally.Providing advice to the mining industry ranging from small scale to big operations.Member of the Board of MHSC representing the State, which is composed of organized labour and organized employers; the Board was responsible for advising the Minister on health and safety issues inthe mining industry since 2007.Chairperson of the MHSC’s Advisory Committee and advising the MHSC on mine health and safety research, Safety In Mines Research Advisory Committee (SIMRAC).Represent DMRE at Coaltech Research Association Board Meetings (State observer). Responsibilities included conducting of inspections, audits, investigations, inquiries relating to mining operations in the province in various mineral commodities ranging from small scale to big operations, mine health and safety act enforcement, conducting of examinations for Government Certificate of Competency and engaging with mining industry stakeholders.Management of provincial (regional) Mine Health and Safety inspectorate activities ensuring alignment with national activities and strategyOverseeing and providing regional oversight on conducting inspections & audits of mining (design and implementation) operations in the provinces of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal relating various mineralcommodities.Providing guidance and supervision on conducting investigations and inquiries, providing advice to magistrates or judges during joint inquest/inquiry proceedings as a technical assessor.Oversee enforcement of Mine Health and Safety Act.Overseeing conducting examinations for government certificate of competency.Achievements:Contributed Immensely to Continuous Improvement of OHS Performance in the Mining Industry Through Various Structures in Making History in the Mining Industry.Making Improvements and Leading a Team that Ensured Effective Research Process Mapping and Improvement in Efficiency and Effectiveness of SIMRAC.
