Following a 10-year professional playing career that included Major League service time across 3 organizations, I transitioned into the professional scouting and player acquisition space, where I’ve spent the past 7+ years evaluating talent at all levels of professional baseball, both domestically and internationally. My responsibilities have evolved from focusing primarily on live evaluations-where projecting upside and impact based on in person observation was key-to integrating more advanced, data-driven methodologies. With the increasing emphasis on predictive modeling and long-term player projections within our organization, the goal has shifted toward identifying surplus value and optimizing roster construction from top to bottom. This transition has required not only adapting my evaluation process, but also working closely with our R&D team and other departments to ensure a holistic view of player acquisition. Staying current with emerging technologies and leveraging new data sets has become essential, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the club’s overarching strategy. Collaboration has been critical to refining my approach while continued learning and adaptations of modern analytical viewpoints ensure I stay current and help drive forward-thinking acquisition decisions.
