As a Continuous Improvement Technician, I work to improve defect and scrap rates throughout the facility, perform the role of Document Coordinator for the plant, and create, and aid in the creation of, new documented work instructions and procedures.In the realm of defect and scrap reduction, I analyze daily, weekly, and monthly trends and reports. I communicate this data to Team Leads and Supervisors in daily and weekly reports. Further, I communicate particular, high instance, defects individually with builders in order increase awareness of repeat problems and to have teaching opportunities that will serve to raise the overall knowledge base of the local workforce.As the plant’s Document Coordinator, I am tasked with assuring that the 100s of internal documents such as local forms and work instructions stay up to date, and comply with ISO 9000 standards. I work with owners and reviewers of documents in each department each month to ensure that each document is correct, understandable, and in the right format.When a new process is being developed, or an existing process is being revamped, I work with the builders, engineers, and Team Leads in that department to document and record the new process. I use pictures and extensive notes, as well as communications with those previously mentioned, as well as any relevant existing documentation to craft new documented work instructions. Finally, I work closely with the Quality Engineers to ensure that quality standards are being met throughout the plant. I inspect incoming parts and product, parts produced in-house, and at times, product produced to ship to our customers.
