Thad Ward, MA LPC LCDC, I earned my Bachelor of Arts and Science in Human Services from the University of North Texas followed by a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Amberton University. I am licensed by the Texas State Board of Professional Counselors.I have been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Gerontology, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I am an experienced counselor who has worked with adolescent and adult individuals, groups and couples. I tailor my treatment to the unique needs of my client and work with the client to establish realistic, obtainable goals. I have extensive experience with dually occurring mental health issues and medical illness including the disease of addiction. I am an experienced therapist who has worked in some of the premiere addiction treatment centers within the state of Texas, including La Hacienda and Enterhealth Ranch. My specialty areas include treatment of PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance addiction, LGBTQIA support, mood disorders, phobias, aging, HIV, death & dying, and relationship stress.I have special interests in assisting individuals and families in accepting, understanding, and navigating issues related to gender identity, sexual orientation, and LGBTQIA needs, including the developmental process of coming out and co-occurring medical concerns. I am an active member of the LGBTQIA community and frequently provides presentations at conferences.I am passionate in my care and treatment.
