As one of Australia's most exciting leading restaurateurs, Thai Ho’s skillful innovation and uncompromising attention to detail are at the heart of the rapidly growing success of his venues. Ho’s career was born in 2002 amid the thick of the historic Melbourne nightclub scene, which saw him work alongside top industry talent to operate, oversee, and own an extensive portfolio of the city’s most prolific nightclubs. Alongside delivering some of Australia’s most successful festivals and events, Ho also founded and drove to success three of the city’s most premiere clubs: Fabrique, Pandora, and Marrakech. In 2015, after leaving his mark on the nightclub scene, Ho’s ambitions grew to embrace Melbourne’s rapidly evolving hospitality scene, where he envisioned a vibrant coalescence of his passions for traditional Vietnamese flavours, contemporary innovation, and uncompromisingly exciting in-venue experience. His vision first came alive with the launch of Vietnamese hawker-style pop-up “Pho Real,” which saw, in Ho’s signature innovative style, guests partake in a pay-as-you-feel scheme in exchange for traditional South-East Asian flavours with a modern kick. After heralding the attention of media across the country, Ho followed up the success of Pho Real with the launch of Melbourne’s Hochi Mama. A skillfully innovative collision of contemporary flavours with time-old traditional recipes, Hochi Mama has come to symbolise Ho’s indisputable signature style: a neon-clad ambience of street art, RnB beats, and uncompromising quality of showmanship and service. Hochi Mama has since cemented its status as an indisputable icon of Melbourne's hospitality scene, securing its place in Open Table’s Top Fifty Restaurants, and becoming highly-regarded as the city’s top eatery for Asian Fusion tapas. Ho and his team swiftly followed the critical acclaim of Hochi Mama with concept-venue Straight Outta Saigon. Marrying classic sharestyle Vietnamese street-food dishes with hip hop and urban flair, SOS quickly established itself as yet another icon in Ho’s growing portfolio. Ho launched his venue group’ MAMAS Dining Group in 2020. Since then, he has manned the successful launch of Hochi Mama’s second restaurant in Richmond, and the group’s newest venture into more refined dining and tapas, Kiss & Tell, in 2022. Ho’s restaurants have received accolades and features from a plethora of highly-regarded Australian media sources, including Trip Advisor, Open Table, Broadsheet, Urban List, and Time Out.
