I worked as office manager, chief financial officer, and secretary and treasurer of Rodgers GMC., Inc. I managed payroll, human resources, and reconciled GMC and Suzuki dealership statements, including all new and used car deals, parts and service department transactions. Having maintained a great working relationship with the accounting professionals at LBMC, I worked closely with our accountants in the processing of all statements and returns. Unfortunately, this dealership opened just as gas prices were reaching the highest prices in years, and our primary vehicles were work trucks and SUV's. The dealership filed for bankruptcy in late 2005, and I stayed to close out the remaining required tasks, working closely with the dealership's attorney, the bankruptcy attorney and the accountants at LBMC. After this I focused my attentions on being a stay at home Mom.

I was recruited from LBMC by a long-term client to work in the accounting department of one of Knoxville's oldest Cadillac dealerships. I assisted with payroll and processing new and used car deals, learning dealership software and the reconciliation of dealership financial statements. I transferred to another dealership associated with this family of dealerships in 2004 to serve as Secretary and Finance Director.

I worked as a financial manager to assigned clients of LBMC, working with payroll, bookkeeping, and bank reconciliations. It is in this role that I became proficient in Quickbooks. I continued assisting the new office manager with client communications and the final processing and filing of client tax returns.

I managed the front desk, answering calls, maintaining appointment schedules for CPAs, and processing the filing of tax returns for clients. I oversaw the relocation of our offices to a new facility, including the design of our office layout and the newly built suites. I worked closely with the home office in Nashville, TN regarding payroll and personnel matters. In 2002 I was promoted to the position of Financial Manager.

I was a senior staff aide to the Trustee, and managed payroll, personnel, and purchasing for his office. I also served as corresponding secretary to the Trustee, and managed correspondence with local officials and the state legislature. I worked closely with the Trustee to set the annual budget for the office, and worked with the Knox County Finance Department throughout the year to execute the budget. I worked closely with the Knox County Law Department regarding matters related to personnel and human resources as we drafted new employee handbooks. I managed the redesign and installation of new equipment, workstations and cubicles during our office renovation. I worked closely with the IT department when the County adopted a new accounting software system (now obsolete.) I was an active member of COAT, the County Officials Association of Tennessee. I resigned this position in 2001 to stay at home with my child.
