Expert Evaluation• Evaluated security research proposals and ongoing research projects for the European Commission. Served as one of three expert evaluators per proposal and approved proposals of €2.3mn (of a total of €17mn).Policy Advice• Provided policy advice to national policymakers, the Hellenic Parliament, and the Belgian Defense General Intelligence and Security Service.• Served as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Organisation for Security, alongside senior executives from 19 leading security- and defence-focused companies. Recommended future Europe-wide security research priorities to the European Commission, to optimize a total of over €3bn of EU funding until 2020.

Strategic Planning, Change and Team Management• Led organizational transformation process from a security consulting service to a security-focused policy advisory body and introduced new strategy, incentives, assessment and task allocation systems. The Center became the key advisory body to the Minister and the government’s agencies on security issues, actively cooperated for the first time with all the relevant government agencies, partnered with other European organisations for 6 programmes of a total of €3mn and from a deficit of €75K it developed a surplus of €45K.• Led a cross-agency team of 11, across Police, Fire Department, Intelligence Service and subject matter experts.Team and Stakeholder Management • Handled the relationships with the Minister of the Interior, the Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs of Police, Fire Department and Intelligence Agency and other government stakeholders. • Co-organised international, high-level conference on intelligence analysis, the first of its kind to take place in Greece, with the participation of 32 security agencies and organisations from 21 countries.

Research, Analysis and Teaching • Specialised and authored policy-oriented reports and commentaries on violent radicalisation among Muslims in the West, as well as the use of global media by Islamist terrorists and relevant counterterrorism.• Designed and delivered trainings to Joint Terrorism Task Forces of the FBI.• Taught courses on international relations and terrorism to cadets of the US Military Academy.

• Provided recommendations on policy formulation on issues related to international security, UN reform and human security. Represented Greece in EU coordination meetings and UN negotiations.• Negotiated and coordinated conclusions for five Ministerial Meetings during the Greek Presidency of the EU.

Office of the Special Advisor to the Minister and Coordinator of the Lisbon Process for Greece. Provided research and support during the Greek Presidency of the EU. Assisted in the preparation of the European Spring Council and the coordination of issues within the framework of the Lisbon Process.
