Lead Medical Technologist
Current▪ Assist with laboratory operation and is responsible for the operation of the laboratory in the absence of the Technical Supervisor.▪ Receive and handle problems. Perform review of pertinent information and initiate immediate corrective action as appropriate. ▪ Communicate with different departments to solve problems and speed up workflow. ▪ Identify and communicate with staff about performance issues. Implement corrective actions.▪ Build and validate new quality controls (QCs) and test patients in laboratory information system. ▪ Coordinate external proficiency testing (CAP). Perform evaluations of the CAP Chemistry checklist. ▪ Perform monthly safety audits and assist annual safety audits for Special Chemistry lab.▪ Evaluate employees for annual competency. Train new staff.▪ Review Daily Activity Reports, verify test results, and perform testing as needed.Key accomplishments:▪ Significantly improved QC evaluation by streamlining QC processes and implementing tailored QC rules.▪ Decreased monthly QC meeting time by 75% through monitoring and reviewing QCs of 60+ tests.▪ Assisted FY 2018 budget for Special Chemistry lab by forecasting H. pylori Breath test volume.▪ Handled Excepts more efficient and shortened the time needed to release completed Excepts by 6 hours by redesigning the process.▪ Achieved 90% increase in catching draw day and time mislabel by training staff to recognize them.▪ Eliminated the need of ordering UBT PED Except2 by communicating with Exception Handling management, resulting in clients getting results 2-7 days faster.▪ Improved Standard Operation Procedures' clarity and accuracy by reviewing and assisting in writing and updating them.
